Haircut 100

Luke and I went to the Barbers, Charlie Barbers in Waltham Cross, in my lunch hour and got trimmed up. Luvly. The picture was taken whilst sitting out side a Cafe in the Cross, watching all the Chavs go by.

In the Barbers the guy cutting our hair was chatting about the footy, I'd already noticed a large framed picture of White Hart Lane on the wall so was safe to assume he was also a Yid. He was. He laughed when I referred to Le Arse as just that. We analized the run in and tried to work out if we'd get into that UEFA Cup spot. I was convinced, he was not. Although he'd not realized that the place for the FA Cup Final was now in the league. And when I went to pay I noticed in the display cabinet alongside all the wax's, gels, shampoo's and such like were packets of condoms. Something for the weekend sir? ;)

Sunday 15th April 2007

Sundays' are nice..

So the second day of nice weather has just ended and I can even still feel the tingle of sun on my skin as I type this, which is good as, like most of us I enjoy the warmer weather. I think we all spent most of the day in the garden we inflated the large pool and spent ages filling it with the kids fighting for the right to hold the hose, on the pretext that they could get most of the water on each other rather than in the pool. They tried to get me, but I pulled the 'I've got my camera in my pocket' trick, so didn't get that wet. Hannah wanted to get in the 'bath' as she called it and although I thought it might be too cold she enjoyed every minute of it.

After filling up the car and dropping the kids off home I shot back along the M25 & M1 at a steady 80mph as it was clear and most of the other drivers were doing the same, as always on a Sunday when dropping the kids home I have Radio 1 on. Dave Pearce's Dance Anthems which always is a good listen. I had the windows down as it was still quite warm and could smell the rape seed in the field next to the M25 and caught a glimpse of the Yellow flowers which send my hay fever through the roof and thought it's about this time of year it kicks in. And speeding along with the tune up high and the wind blowing through the car, I had one of those moments. You know the 'good to be alive' ones, and had a big grin on my face.

Man Yoo and Chelski get to play the first FA Cup Final  at Wembley, but that means the UEFA cup places fall to at least 7th in the league, so we're still in with a chance. And speaking of us, 3 times we went behind at Wigan. 3 times we came back. not too bad but would have preferred the win.

The only downside of the weekend? Back to work tomorrow. !

The Falklands Conflict - 1982/2007

25 Years ago, Argentina invades The Falkland Islands

Argentina has invaded the British territory of the Falkland Islands in the south Atlantic. The islands, off the coast of Argentina, have been a cause of friction between the two countries since Britain claimed them in 1833. The Argentine flag is now flying over Government House in the Falkland Islands' capital, Port Stanley.
The head of the country's military junta, General Leopoldo Galtieri, has welcomed the "recovery" of "Las Malvinas" - the Argentine name for the Falklands. General Galtieri said Argentina had been left with no option other than military action.
The invasion followed months of sabre-rattling and a build-up over the past few days of Argentine war ships off the Falkland Islands, home to about 1,800 people.

At 0600 on Friday Argentina began "Operation Rosario" when a unit of Argentine troops landed near Port Stanley. The leader of the Argentine forces, Admiral Jorge Anaya, had contacted the Falklands' governor, Rex Hunt, to appeal for a peaceful surrender. But the request was rejected and the 80 members of the Royal Marine regiment stationed on the island and 20 locals were mobilised.
But by early afternoon they were vastly outnumbered by about 3,000 Argentine troops. After an attack on Government House during which one Argentine soldier is said to have been killed, Rex Hunt ordered the British troops to surrender.
No Falkland Islanders or Royal Marines died in the fighting though one serviceman is reported to be badly wounded.

Dedicated to all who fought and the 255 British troops who never returned

Out to the Park..

What with the spring sun and the fact we couldn't be bothered to sit around the house anymore we had a trip up to a local park which most of us had not been to before. King Georges Recreation Ground. Large area of grass, a couple of swing parks for little kids, an enclosed basketball/football area. We took the kite too but only managed to get it going for a while as the wind kept dropping but we all managed to fly it for a while. Then it was back for Sunday lunch of Lamb chops.

On the swings, see the rest of the pictures here
